HTI: Church History

This course introduces us to church history. The Church is the Bride of Christ and this is the story of her epic journey on her way to the ultimate Marriage Feast. We are fellow pilgrims sailing in her wake down the river of belief from the headwaters in the middle decades of the First Century when Apostles still traipsed the Roman roads, to where the river flows into the Oh so culturally relevant 21st Century. Along the way, we will encounter many times where the river divides, where it roars through dangerous cataracts, and where it branches into fatal swamps. We will meet heroes of the faith who would give us life-saving directions and misguided visionaries who would lead us astray. Since it would be impossible to focus intensely on every aspect of the last 2,000 years, we will limit our focus in order of importance to:\r\n1)\tHow we got to where we are now in the river of belief,\r\n2)\tWhat the general winding shape of that river has been for 2,000 years, and\r\n3)\tWho the major figures are who acted as powerful forces to shape the course of that river.\r\n
